How It Works

Your image is loaded into an HTML Canvas element entirely in your browser. The canvas re-encodes the image at your chosen quality level using the browser's built-in codec — no data ever leaves your device. The result is a new file that is smaller but visually similar to the original.

Tips for Best Results

• JPEG / WebP: Quality 70–80% gives the best size-to-quality balance for photos.
• PNG: PNG is lossless — the quality slider does not apply. Use WebP or JPEG to reduce PNG file sizes.
• WebP: WebP consistently outperforms JPEG and PNG for both quality and file size.
• Transparency: Only PNG and WebP preserve transparency. Converting to JPEG will fill transparent areas with white.
