This tool calculates sunrise, sunset, solar noon, and civil twilight times for any location on Earth using the standard astronomical solar position algorithm. Enter latitude and longitude in decimal degrees (negative for south and west), or click "Use My Location" to auto-fill your GPS coordinates.
The algorithm is based on the Julian Date system and accounts for atmospheric refraction (0.833°) so the computed sunrise and sunset match what you actually observe on the horizon. Civil twilight (dawn and dusk) is calculated at −6° solar elevation — the moment when the sky begins to brighten before sunrise and fully darkens after sunset.
Locations above the Arctic Circle or below the Antarctic Circle may experience polar night (sun never rises) or the midnight sun (sun never sets) at certain times of year. The calculator detects and reports these conditions.
